Factor VII Deficiency
Deficiency of clotting factor VII is a rare bleeding disorder. It is also known as proconvertin or serum prothrombin conversion accelerator (SPCA) deficiency. It is a rare deficiency affecting roughly 1 in 500,000 people. Both men and women may be affected. Not all affected individuals experience bleeding problems. For those that do, the most common bleeding symptoms are nosebleeds, gingival bleeding (gums) and subcutaneous bleeds. The spontaneous bleeding into joints and muscles that are a feature of both Haemophilia A and B are much less common in Factor VII deficiency.
